In the 1891 census William was 19, an engine fitter and was a border at 3 Brewery Road, Plumstead.

On 26 Sep 1895 William married Florence Sarah Elizabeth Chick, daughter of William Chick and Sarah Susannah Fenn, in Plumstead, Kent. (Florence Sarah Elizabeth Chick was born in 1870 in Plumstead, Kent and was christened on 4 Sep 1870 in Plumstead, Kent.)

In the 1901 census William was 29, a steam engine maker fitter and living at 8 Ripon Road, Plumstead
with his wife Florence, age 30, children Walter, age 4 and May, 7 months. Everyone in the family had been born in Plumstead.

In the 1911 census the family had moved to 6 College Avenue, Gillingham, Kent and William was a gun fitter.

William died 19 February 1947, at age 75, still living at 6 College Avenue, Gillingham, Kent.
